Get it Nailed

Here are some of my must-haves for the perfect manicure...

  1. Cuticle Care - These usually tend to be an oil that acts like a conditioner for your nails and cuticles. I will add a drop of oil to the base of each nail and massage it in to ensure the nail bed is fully hydrated. I like to use Solar Oil.
  2. Base Coat - This protects your nails and acts like a primer. There are many to choose from depending on what your nails need e.g. strengthening, ridge filler, help to grow. I like to use Sally Hansen Double Duty Base & Top Coat.
  3. 2 coats of colour - my favourite shade at the moment is a classic pale pink like Essie Ballet Slippers.
  4. Top coat - I have always used a top coat to give that extra shine to the nails, however, I have recently found a quick drying top coat which has allowed me to get my nails done quickly which I have found invaluable with two young children. I like to use the Essie Good to Go top coat.
I have recently discovered the Maybelline Express Remover which has a foam pad covered in nailpolish remover and you just place your finger in the pot and your nailpolish will be gone. The smell is really strong which I'm not that keen on, but this product is great and would be good for travelling. I haven't tried it on my toes yet, but if you could get your toes in then this would save your manicure which would be a huge bonus!

A good hand and nail cream is also essential to keep hands in good condition, especially as we move into the colder months. I like to use Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream as I love the smell and I always feel like I am indulging when I use it. My hands are especially dry since having Oliver as I seem to always be washing them. To give my hands a boost at night I will apply my hand cream and then put on cotton gloves much to my husbands amusement.

What are your favourite nail treatments?

  1. I really like the express remover I've used it before and it works perfectly. I need to get a new one since I'm traveling soon.
